Looking for a Great Weekend Getaway Close to Home?
If you’re searching for a fantastic weekend escape without straying far from home, I have just the place for you! Nestled in the serene Millcreek Canyon, Venture Out Camp Tracy Adventures is a hidden oasis perfect for all ages. My family and I recently spent an unforgettable day there, and we can’t wait to share our experience with you.
Driving up the picturesque Millcreek Canyon is just the beginning of your adventure. Upon reaching gate 5, you’ll park in a shaded dirt lot and cross a charming bridge that leads to the camp. There are towering trees that will provide you with ample shade, and a beautiful creek offers a cool spot to soak your feet. The camp features activities for all ages, delicious meals, beautiful hikes and so much more!
Archery Class: Fun for All Ages
Our day started with an engaging archery class. Venture Out Camp Tracy offers different-sized bows for all ages, and we learned about the parts of the bow, handling techniques, shooting skills, and safety measures. The camp guide was incredibly patient and supportive, especially with the kids. By the end of the session, even I managed to hit a bullseye!

Craft Area: Creativity Unleashed
Next, we headed to the Craft Area. When we first checked in we received craft bucks to spend at the craft area. These craft bucks can be used for various crafts like keychains, beeswax candles, bracelets, patches, and dreamcatchers, with prices ranging from 0-4 craft bucks. The best part? All ages can participate, so we all enjoyed creating animal keychains, beeswax candles, and friendship bracelets together.

Rock Climbing Walls: Challenging and Exciting
Behind the Craft Area, two rock climbing walls awaited us. One side is easier, perfect for toddlers, while the other offers more of a challenge for kids. The Camp Guide provided helpful instructions and ensured the kids felt safe. They had so much fun that it was hard to move on to the next activity.

Lunch at Layton Lodge
For lunch, we headed to Layton Lodge, where you can pre-ordered meals when purchasing tickets. Feeding a family of five for only $40, the lunch was both affordable and delicious, featuring the juiciest watermelon. While waiting for our cheeseburgers, we enjoyed games like 9 square, jumbo connect four, twister, and ping pong in the cool, shaded building. If you camp at Camp Tracy you can pre-order breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Hammock Area: Relax and Unwind
After lunch, we relaxed in the hammock area, my husband’s favorite spot. Five hammocks hung under large trees provided the perfect amount of shade. We almost fell asleep, it was so peaceful. We actually came here twice we loved it so much!

Terrarium Class: A Hands-On Experience
The kids then created their own terrariums, learning about the ecosystem and each layer’s role in it. The camp guides were fantastic, even adding fun jokes to keep the kids engaged. Each child got to personalize their terrarium, with a special surprise inside at the very end. I will like the surprise for you to find out!

Scavenger Hunt: Fun for the Whole Family
Throughout the day, we participated in a scavenger hunt included with our check-in items. The kids loved the friendly competition of finding each item first.
Ropes Course: Thrills and Challenges
The ropes course was a highlight, standing around 20 feet in the air. We navigated slacklines, balanced on beams, jumped from post to post and zipped through the air on a thrilling zip line. Despite initial fears, the kids had an absolute blast once they conquered their nerves.

Outdoor Gaming Area: Endless Fun
Our final stop was the outdoor gaming area, featuring axe throwing, slingshots, Gaga ball, squirt gun fights that were supposed to be squirt gun races, corn hole, paper airplane contests, basketball, and more. With so many activities, we could have easily spent another five hours here.
